ROBERT J. KOPCO was born June 1, 1953 in Cleveland, OH to the late Joseph and Joann (Harcharik)Kopco. He attended St. Benedict Elementary School, graduated from Benedictine High School in 1971 and from John Carroll University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business.
After college, he worked in retail, as an auditor, in finance and lastly at the First Catholic Slovak Union (Jednota) retiring in 2022. He was a former Jednota Branch 24 president and kept active in various Slovak cultural activities.
He learned to play the drums, played in his father’s polka band and for many years with the Johnny Pastirik Combo.
On October 23, 1982 he married Virginia “Dee” Lampert (b.1/28/1955; d. 2/10/2000). Dee was gifted with a talent for singing and often provided vocals for the Johnny Pastirik Combo.
Bob is survived by his brothers Bill (Sally) Kopco and Jim Kopco (girlfriend Lauren Hartigan); and his niece Anna Kopco.
