Robert Joseph Jergens, age 85, born March 18,1938 passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023.
Beloved son of the late Frank and Sophie Jergens.
Loving cousin of Carol O’Donnell, Richard Wojciechowska, Carol McCarthy, Florence Skwarski, Gerald Barna, Joyce Dougherty and the following deceased: Susan Davis, Kenneth Wojciechowska, Elaine Sobecks, Evelyn Strick, Edward Bledrzycki, Sophie Lewayne, and Lillian Glinski. He also was greatly indebted to Sandy Simic and her family who provided compassionate, loving care for him the last several years of his life.
Mr. Jergens received his M.A. at Yale University (1961) and was a Professor at the Cleveland Institute of Art. He explored complex relationships between abstract composition and observed reality, with a particular concern for the way the mind processes optical data. As an art educator Mr. Jergens was known for his teaching, scholarship, workshops and writing.
Friends received from 8:30AM - 9:00AM THURSDAY FEBRUARY 2 at the HOPKO FUNERAL HOME 6020 BROADVIEW RD (S OF SNOW RD) PARMA followed by Mass Of Christian Burial at 9:30AM at St. Anthony Of Padua Church 6750 State Rd Parma. Burial at Calvary Cemetery.
