Regina "Jean" Parle

REGINA (JEAN) PARLE passed away peacefully at home at the age of 90 on April 10, 2024, just as she wanted.

A life-long resident of Cleveland, Ohio, Jean sold her house in 2014, the house she had lived in for 45 years, packed up and intrepidly moved to the Pacific Northwest to live with her daughter Theresa (Terri) and be near her grandchildren and great-grandchilden.

The daughter of Emil Zukovic and Anna Nemec, Mom was exceedingly proud of her Slovak heritage. All four of her grandparents emigrated from Slovakia. When Jean went to kindergarten, she was fluent in Slovak as a result of being cared for by her grandmothers. In 1977, Jean and her mother visited family in Slovakia.

Jean chose James (Jim) Parle to be her husband and they were married on April 11, 1953. They came close to having 60 years together before Jim passed away in 2012. Jean and Jim drove across the country many times on their way to visiting the family.

Jean was happiest being a homemaker and she prided herself on keeping a clean house. Jean devotedly prayed the rosary and she had a special devotion to Mary, especially Our Lady of Fatima, and to Padre Pio.

 In addition to her daughter Terri, Jean leaves behind granddaughter Christine (spouse Mike), grandson Eric (spouse Leanne) and great-granddaughters Ella and Hayley.

 Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday August 26, 2024 10:30AM at St. Leo the Great Church 4940 Broadview Rd Cleveland followed by interment of cremains at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery 10175 Rawiga Rd Seville OH at 12:45PM
