Philip Francis Hodanbosi passed peacefully on August 21, 2021 in Parma, Ohio. He was born in Blaine, Ohio on January 17, 1923. He was preceded in death by his sister, Frances and brothers, Louis, Stephen, Michael and John. He leaves behind his wife of 76 years, Ann; his sons Philip (Carol) and Robert (Johanna); grandchildren, Karen Conn, June Rickey and Matthew Hodanbosi; and eight great grandchildren.
Phil was an expert tradesman, skilled golfer, avid gardener and quilter. He graduated from East Technical High School in Cleveland in 1940 and immediately enlisted in the U. S. Navy serving his tour of duty as naval air mechanic stationed within various blimp squadrons during World War II. While in his 90's he was able to pilot the Goodyear Blimp for a short while.
After completing his military service, he began working at Benjamin Moore Paints in Cleveland in a variety of production roles. He furthered his education at Fenn College earning certificates in chemistry and electricity. His hard work and dedication were rewarded with being named plant manager at Benjamin Moore Paints, a position he held for over 30 years.
His retirement years were spent in the constant company of his wife Ann, taking care of his home and meticulous garden, playing frequent golf and interacting with his family. Throughout their retirement years, Ann and Phil spent many hours together producing quilts that they donated to various charities in the area.
