Dr. William Henry Gillard went to heaven on July 8, 2006 holding the hand of his beloved stepdaughter. Loving husband of Sandra Ann Gillard (deceased) and stepfather of David Verzi (Perrin) and Kristina Verzi (Steve Smith).
William was born prematurely on April 23, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA to Irvin P and Alice B (Friedrich) Gillard. He was a loving brother to Bettyann Audry (Gillard) Ferguson (deceased).
William served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He graduated in 1953 from George Washington University, School of Medicine and Health Sciences with his medical degree. He spent decades in private practice in Parma, Ohio as a pediatrician and seeing little patients (often preemies) at Parma Community General and Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospitals. He was quietly humble, brilliant, devoted and kind.
William’s belated funeral and interment will be held concurrently with that of his deceased wife Sandra Ann Gillard.
Family and friends will be welcomed at HOPKO FUNERAL HOME 6020 Broadview Rd (S of Snow Rd) Parma on Tuesday, June 9th: VISITATION 3-8PM. Parastas at 7PM. Sharing of memories after Parastas. Funeral services: Hopko Funeral Home Wednesday, June 10th 8-9AM visitation. Panachida at 9AM. Funeral procession from Hopko to Cathedral of St John the Baptist 5500 W 54th Street Parma Ohio. 11:15AM graveside service and interment at Holy Spirit Cemetery.
